I was honored to speak to children at Kalerwe Parents School under the Suubi mu Kalamu project by the Rotaract Club of Kampala Nalya. I shared my school journey, listened to theirs, and enjoyed a joyful reading session with them—all to inspire hope and encourage them to stay focused on their dreams.
Suubi mu Kalamu—translated as "Hope in the Pen"—is a meaningful initiative by the Rotaract Club of Kampala Nalya, aimed at improving education for children in underserved communities. I was humbled to be invited by Ms. Bako and Hadijah Nankanja to speak to the students at Kalerwe Parents School.
Every time I get a chance to talk to young learners, I reflect on my own school experiences at their age. I also take time to listen—to hear their stories, understand their fears, and grasp the challenges that might be holding them back. I may not always have the answers, but these moments shape how we can design relevant and impactful solutions.
To top it all off, we had a heartfelt reading session—something I truly love doing with kids, and which they always enjoy. It was such a memorable and meaningful experience, and I can’t wait for the next opportunity to inspire and be inspired by the young ones.
